Who are the Cosplay Volunteers of Atlanta?

“What is cosplay?” you may be wondering. Well, if you’re not familiar with the concept, the term “cosplay” is defined by the New Oxford Dictionary as “the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game”—thus, cos (costume) play. Cosplay has become an integral part of nerd culture. Thousands of people engage in the art of cosplay every year. Merriam-Webster adds that “[i]n cosplay, a good costume is as much about creativity with materials and construction as it is about the outcome.”

But what if you could mesh cosplay and the idea of giving back to the community? At CVoA, that’s exactly what we do!

Cosplay Volunteers of Atlanta is a dedicated group of costumed-character performers. We bring characters from popular children's media to life for the purpose of volunteering for children’s hospitals, charity organizations & more. Our organization matches costumed volunteers with children's non-profit events. Non-profits can place a volunteer "ad" for either a specific character or theme. Diversity and equality are very important to us at CVoA; we believe that representation matters and strive to support children with heroes that reflect themselves and their beliefs.

**Please note: we are not a professional princess party/entertainment company. Our mission revolves around volunteering specifically for charities that benefit children and their families. Please don't message us requesting a character for your child's birthday party; it will be declined.

We appreciate your understanding!
